As a Theatre Aspen apprentice, I had the opportunity to work the education program which took place at the district Theatre in Aspen, Colorado. While with Theatre Aspen education, I was the A1/A2 for two shows; Willy Wonka Jr. & Peter and the Starcatcher. This was a very unique experience for me as I worked closely with the designer in a space in which neither of us had any prior experience or knowledge. Willy Wonka Jr. had a cast with an age range between 3rd and 8th grade and Peter in the Starcatcher between 9th and 12th grade. Using microphones with head rigs on kids so young was very tough as I had to teach the kids how to properly care for microphones. More importantly, I had to make the microphones comfortable enough that young kids would not be distracted and fidget with the capsules or wireless packs. In addition to responsibilities as the RF tech/A2, I was also the A1/FOH Mixer.
